Certified Level: The Certified level coursework is designed to prepare the Certified member to have the knowledge and skill to provide instruction as an independent OG practitioner. This course includes the rationale for using the OG Approach with individuals with dyslexia at the advanced levels, including using a diagnostic-prescriptive approach, instructional sequences that span basic phonics to advanced linguistics concepts, lesson planning and delivery for the individual learner at any age and level, and assessment for all levels of learner.

Training follows the seminal work of Rome/Osman.

Minimum coursework hours: 100 hours beyond the 60 hours Associate for a total of 160 hours.

Practicum Requirement: The 200 hour required practicum must fulfill the requirements set forth by the OGA Standards of Practice. The 200 hours supervised practicum teaching is beyond the 100 hours of Associate for a total of 300 hours. Includes 10 observations by a Fellow/FIT/ or qualified supervisor. The practicum is with 2 different students: 1 at the lower level of language and 1 at the higher level of language instruction.

Prerequisite: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in any area of study and Associate level membership in the Academy.
