Associate Course:

The 75-hour Associate Level course meets OGA standards and is designed to build on the Classroom Educators course to equip teachers and tutors with the knowledge and skills to work one-on-one with students with dyslexia. The comprehensive training in structured, multisensory research-based language instruction integrates reading with spelling and writing.  Trainees will study the neurological underpinnings of dyslexia, phonological awareness, phonology, syllable types and division patterns, history and structure of the English language, spelling rules and generalization, as well as an introduction to morphology.  Participants will interpret student profiles and assessments.  Trainees will write daily lesson plans and work with individual students with support and feedback from an OGA accredited fellow.

Practicum: For an additional fee, a supervised practicum with mentorship (a minimum of 10 observations over a minimum of 8 months) can be requested after the completion of coursework to fulfill the requirements for OGA certification at the Associate level
