Northwest Dyslexia Resources

Associate coursework meets the standards of the OGA and leads to certification. This course is a mixture of lecture, practice/activities and discussions of required readings. The school year classes include in-depth discussions of issues with practicum students. It includes a manual (Sounds to Words); phonogram and rule cards; and a book of decodable text. Sounds to Words has at least one page of information/practice for each phonogram, rule and generalization. The manual provides an easy reference for procedures practiced in class. Materials are designed to move slowly enough for the most impacted students to succeed.

Practicum: Practicum is a requirement of this course. It is done throughout the 2023/24 school year. The second set of classes run through the school year in order to coordinate with the practicum. Practicum observations may be in person or by Zoom.

Prerequisite: Bachelors Degree
