Certified Course Parts 1 and 2 can be taken in any order.
Certified Course Part 2
Part 2 of Certified level coursework continues with a second 30 hour course that follows the curriculum guidelines of the Academy and includes:
A review of phonemic awareness, phonology and phonics; tests and testing continued, working memory, executive function and comprehension; teaching vocabulary, grammar and comprehension; writing and the writing process; the Academy and the Academy code of Ethics.

Certified Course Part 1
This 30 hour introduction to Certified level coursework follows the curriculum guidelines of the Academy and includes:
A review of the Orton-Gillingham Approach and the current understanding of dyslexia and the brain; teaching older students; advanced work attack strategies and morphology; reading fluency; formal and informal assessment measures and interpretation of testing; knowledge of other programs based on Orton-Gillingham principles.
The course does not include practicum but opportunity for practicum may be available for qualified candidates.
Prerequisites: Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Level membership in the Academy
